Bio
Nicholas Fitz is a senior lawyer in RAR’s Commercial Litigation group. He represents institutions, public and private corporations, owner-operated businesses, and individuals in a wide range of commercial disputes, including contractual claims, debt enforcement, fraud and loss recovery, and regulatory and professional discipline matters.
He has appeared before courts at all levels in Ontario, including the Court of Appeal for Ontario, as well as various tribunals. Nick has prosecuted and responded to Mareva and Norwich proceedings, argued motions for leave to appeal, and conducted numerous trials before the Ontario Court of Justice. He also has experience outside of the commercial context, including defending numerous claims of human rights discrimination before both the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario, and Canadian Human Right Tribunal. This experience has given Nick further perspective on the types of risks clients may face even outside of their typical business functions, and how such risks can be mitigated.
Nick focuses on efficient, outcome-driven dispute resolution. He provides clear, business-focused advice and advocacy, helping decision-makers assess costs, risks, and objectives at each stage while maintaining consistent communication. Clients value his practical objectivity and disciplined problem-solving.
Nick has been recognized by Best Lawyers as “One to Watch” in Corporate and Commercial Litigation.
Prior to joining RAR Litigation, Nick practised at a top-tier law firm, before which he acted as Legal Counsel in the legal services division of one of Canada’s largest municipalities. During law school, Nick received the McDougall-Watson Memorial Award, the Dan Soberman Award, and the Robinson-Ryan Award, recognizing excellence in advocacy and legal analysis.
